Switzerland

Welcome to eBay Switzerland, where nearly 300 employees are spread between offices in Zürich and Bern, Switzerland’s first and fourth largest cities, respectively. Switzerland is, of course, internationally renowned as a center of finance, diplomacy, wristwatches, and chocolate. But that’s not all. In its annual global Prosperity Index, the London-based think tank, Legatum Institute, calls Switzerland “the second happiest, richest, healthiest, and most crime-free country in the world.” So it’s only fitting that eBay Switzerland makes for a very happy place to work.

Between offices in Bern and Zürich, eBay Switzerland carries out a number of functions critical to eBay operations in Switzerland and Europe as a whole. Most of the European leadership team is located here.

Our Bern office, established in 1999, serves as European HQ for finance and administration. Data science and analytics are also key activities undertaken in the Alpine city’s facility. Bern is considered one of the world’s best cities to live in and is ranked 14th in the annual "Quality of Living Index" by the HR consultancy firm, Mercer. Switzerland’s capital city traces its origins back to the 12th century, and medieval architecture can be spotted throughout Bern’s famous Altstadt (Old Town).

In our Zürich facility, opened in 2005, eBay staffers are primarily charged with marketing and communications in support of eBay’s Swiss operations. Zürich is a leading global city and among the world's largest financial centers, and also the wealthiest city in Europe. With roughly three million people, the region surrounding Zürich is home to many international companies as well as several domestic financial institutions and banking giants.

Regardless of which city you choose as a workplace, eBay Switzerland offers rail pass reimbursements, bike-to-work incentives, and a fully stocked kitchen for all eBay staffers to enjoy. Flexible working arrangements give employees ample opportunity to engage in activities outside of the workplace: eBay Global Impact teams enable employees to volunteer their time, organize drives and fundraisers, make their communities more sustainable, and direct funding to select non-profit organizations through the eBay Foundation, whose mission is to bring the company’s values to life.
